I do stuff, lots of stuff. And I really, really like Star Wars. Actually, I am a graphic designer and small business owner. And in there lies the lots and lots of stuff.
Originally this blog was an attempt to marry design and small business, with the goal being to connect with business owners, the design community and design buyers. But more often it includes personal reflections and interests.
When not writing about life, I typically write about design issues and the ups and downs of running a business. I’m very passionate about the software I use (especially Evernote) and will sometimes post tutorials related to them.
I strive to post weekly, but you know whatever. To be sure you don’t miss out, why not subscribe to my blog via RSS?
If you are new here, you may want to start by reading my most popular posts. It will give you a good feel for what I’m passionate about.

I am a graduate of the University of Manitoba (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honors), I began working as a graphic designer in 1999 for a Winnipeg firm, Tundra Lights Communications. Not long after that I took a design position at ChristianWeek, a national Christian newspaper. After 2 years in the newspaper business, I began working for Canadian Mennonite University as their media designer.
In 2005, I launched Samson Design Studios. SamsonStudios provides full creative services including print and web design, branding and brand analysis, photography and video. We work predominantly with non-profits and charities, but have for-profit clients as well.
In 2014, I took a job with Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba as their Communications Coordinator. I continue to balance my freelance business while working full time with MBCM.
I speak publicly on the topics of branding and design, and Evernote.
I am blessed with a wonderful and super-supportive family. My wife of 15 years, Donna Lee works in healthcare. We have two children, eleven and seven years of age. I don’t know where I’d be without them. Together we enjoy movie nights, trips to the beach and the occasional game of “I Spy”.
Our family attends Heritage Park Temple, a church of the Salvation Army in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I lead a worship team and Donna Lee leads the choir. We’ve been attending since 1993.
